Genuine Broaster Chicken Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Well you might wonder what’s so different about Genuine Broaster Chicken… Let me tell you about it.

Broasting is actually a technique of pressure cooking with deep frying chicken or meat that has been marinated and breaded or coated with seasoned flour. This process is basically carried out by frying palm sized pieces of chicken first in an open ordinary pressure cooker till a basic crust is formed and the rest is fried by closing the cooker in a medium flame for 10–12 minutes and releasing the steam completely through the vent, lifting slightly the pressure regulator without opening the lid or removing the regulator thoroughly, the cooker is then allowed to be cooled and the meat to be cooked further without opening the lid for 4–5 minutes. This technique was first invented in 1950s in the United States and is very popular in the country  (Info source: Wikipedia). The advantage of this technique is that the fried food contains almost ZERO Trans fats. And now this has been brought to India by the Yellow Tie Hospitality under Mr. Karan Tanna and Chef Harpal Sokhi who has curated an amazing menu that suits Indian Palate.

Located at a walkable distance from Versova Metro Station, the Genuine Broaster Chicken (GBC hereafter) is very easy to locate with the big logo having a cute chicken caricature painted in blue and red. It has both indoor and outdoor seating arrangement having a rustic ambiance with American memorabilia. The walls are adorned with funny chicken puns and the place is dimly lit with lamps in the form of the helmets of popular American Football teams. The ambiance is really pleasing to eyes having the vintage vibes.

Let’s get started with my grub experience.

We arrived here around 2 PM, and in order to quench our thirsts due to the scorching heat we called for Bul Bul Soda and Palang Tod beverages. The soda was a sweet amalgamation of caramel and fanta flavour with hints of some chatpata masala. I didn’t quite like the taste. While the Palang Tod was an absolutely a perfect thirst quencher! It consisted of Red Bull served with a mild espresso shot which you have to dip in the mug. (Note: Don’t pour the shot but simply immerse the shot glass in the mug) The mildly fizzy yet strong combination of red bull and espresso was really flavorful and with every sip it was addictive! I highly recommend it.

Next we called for Assorted Wings. These are part of the newly introduced menu. The assorted platter consists of wings as follows tossed in respective sauces: (anti clockwise as per the image)

  • Butter Garlic: Tossed in butter and a garlicky flavored sauce
  • Kung Pao: Tossed in green bell peppers and oyster flavor sauce
  • Smoked BBQ & Mushroom: Tossed in glazed mushroom sauce and flavored with smoked BBQ
  • Kasundi Mustard: Tossed in Kasundi mustard sauce finished with a dash of lemon juice
  • Narangi Siracha: Tossed in spicy Tabasco sauce finished with a dash of orange juice
  • Curried BBQ: Tossed in cumin seeds and curry leaves and flavored with smoked BBQ

The wings were juicy and each of them had soaked the respective sauces in which they were tossed in, is what makes me say this platter is heaven for every chicken wings’ lovers like me but my personal favourite were Butter Garlic, Narangi Siracha and Kung Pao flavours which stood out!

Firangi Palak Paneer Dip consisted of a fluffy and creamy textured dip made of cottage cheese (paneer) and spinach (palak) which was served with crispy pita breads. I honestly was hesitating to order a vegetarian dish but this particular dish was mind boggling! The perfectly balanced gooeyness and saltiness of the dip is what made it moreish! I highly recommend it.

Then we tried the Lamb Rojan Josh and Dil Garden Burgers.

The lamb burger had a stack of a juicy patty made of minced meat, caramelized onions and mildly spicy curry between soft and appealingly bright red buns. The buns were given the red color by using beetroot and no artificial food colors!

Dil garden burger had stack of a crispy and soft vegetarian patty made of mixed vegetables, onion and tomato slaw between soft and pleasantly green colored buns slathered with jalapeno cheese sauce. The green color to these buns was derived from the green leafy vegetables. Again no artificial food colors!

Both the burgers were served with a portion of fries and dips. They tasted heavenly but I personally loved the Dil Garden burger more!

We also tried the Authentic American Grilled Chicken. It was served with a portion of rice, salad and fries. The grilled chicken lacked the flavors of BBQ and mushroom sauce to the point of being completely absent. I however loved the flavorful rice, served with it, which was cooked perfectly and the smell itself was mesmerizing!

We ended our lunch on a sweet note with (DESSERTS OF COURSE! Duh) Oreo Phirni and Salted Caramel Lava Cake.

The chocolate fondant cake consisted of gooey and thick molten chocolate with hints of salted caramel. It tasted decent enough. However, the thick and silky smooth chocolaty Phirni with crunchy chocolate Oreo chunks is everything a dessert lover’s soul needs! It was one of the best desserts we had so far!

Overall GBC gave us and amazing experience with the variants of chicken items. There were some misses and some hits but I definitely want to go back and try more! Go ahead with my recommendations and you would have an amazing time with introduction of the new menu along with some Shakes and Mocktails.
